WLRA Advocates for Industry in our Nation's Capital

Earlier this month members of the Wyoming Lodging and Restaurant Association, led by President Ken Barkey, attended the National Restaurant Association Public Affairs Conference and met with our congressional delegation in our nation’s capital. Make a Difference! Plan to Attend the WLRA PAC Event June 7, 2016

The outcome of the 2016 election plays a significant role in the level of support our industry receives when critical legislative decisions are made throughout the year. Your association has a Political Action Committee that contributes to pro-hospitality candidates each election cycle. Wyoming Tourism & Hospitality Fall Summit

The 2016 Wyoming Hospitality and Tourism Fall Summit will be held at the beautiful Jackson Lake Lodge from September 21-22, 2016! In addition to the annual summit, the 6th annual WLRA Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, September 23, 2016 at the magnificent Jackson Hole Golf and Tennis Club. This year’s conference and tournament represent a tremendous opportunity to engage with industry leaders from across the state while enjoying your stay in Grand Teton National Park during the centennial of the National Park Service. 2015 Tourism Success Featured in the
Wyoming Business Report

In February Wyoming’s tourism industry was highlighted in a four-page insert in the Wyoming Business Report. The feature showcased the success of the 2015 campaign, looked ahead to the National Park Centennial, discussed expansion of international marketing programs and showcased progress on the new Wyoming Office of Tourism website re-design. It is a tremendous piece that was distributed state-wide and can be found HERE.

Life After the EMV Liability Shift

The liability shift deadline has passed. And guess what? The world didn’t come to an end—just like it didn’t when the clock struck midnight on January 1, 2000. But unlike Y2K, EMV is here to stay. The good news is the sun didn’t set for good on October 1. Maybe you were aware of the liability shift, but decided against the equipment upgrade. You might have had every intention of becoming compatible, but before you knew it, October 1 had come and gone. Or you could still be trying to understand how this impacts your business and what it all means—a relatively common theme we’ve been hearing. In a nutshell—the party with the least secure technology is now responsible for chargebacks resulting from the acceptance of lost, stolen or counterfeit cards. Menu Labeling Delayed Again

The Food and Drug Administration said it is delaying the Dec. 1, 2016, effective date for enforcement of the government’s menu-labeling regulations. The agency issued a statement March 9 indicating federal menu-labeling requirements will not be enforced until one year after the FDA publishes its final guidance on the rule. The menu-labeling requirement was part of the health care law President Obama signed into law in 2010.  Read More »

WOT Unveils New Website, TravelWyoming.com

The Wyoming Office of Tourism (WOT) is excited to officially announce the launch of the new consumer website, TravelWyoming.com. The new website will gradually replace WyomingTourism.org as the two sites will work in parallel until sometime in June when the transfer of content to the new site will be completed.    Read More »
