  A letter from the Director

Welcome to the first WLRA e-newsletter of 2017 and thank you so very much for your membership within our association. The mission of the Wyoming Lodging and Restaurant Association is to remain committed to improving the business climate and profit of the lodging, restaurant and tourism industry. Through government affairs, education and the communication of information we help our members deliver a quality product to the consumer.

With our mission top of mind, the WRLA engaged in an extremely busy 2017 Legislative General Session. Driving visitor traffic to your business is a primary focus of our association and we were effective in defending against numerous proposed cuts to both state and local marketing programs. The WLRA led successful efforts related to falsely impersonating service animals, favorably modernizing liquor license laws, maintaining reasonable starting wages, protecting the franchise business model and increasing mobility for residents and visitors through transportation network companies like Uber. The WLRA was active at the legislature every day of the session ensuring that the climate that you operate in remains business friendly.

Have you reviewed the list of money saving benefits that you are entitled to as a member of our association lately? With the goal of positively impacting your bottom line, the WLRA partners with numerous allied members that provide our membership a discount on related business services. The list of benefits can be found later in this newsletter under the valued member article. Please take a few minutes to review it and give us a call if there are any that you are not yet utilizing.

Another one of the primary goals of the WLRA is to act as your “one stop shop” for all industry related questions and concerns. Having worked in the industry ourselves for more than 20 years, we understand first hand that you do not have time to research answers to the myriad of issues that you and your staff face daily. Through our monthly e-newsletter, weekly legislative updates during the legislative session and customized emails detailing any significant federal or state happenings in the hospitality industry, we strive to keep you informed in a timely fashion. You can call us with any challenges that you are experiencing and expect to hear back from us immediately. If we don’t know the solution we will work with you to find it.

For more than 60 years the Wyoming Lodging and Restaurant Association has existed to serve the needs of Wyoming’s hospitality industry. In the coming year we will continue to operate in an evolving business landscape at both the state and federal level. It is a critical time to be proactively involved. I sincerely look forward to working together to protecting and promoting Wyoming’s hospitality and tourism industry and I am honored and grateful to partner with you in these efforts. Thank you very much for your continued support of the WLRA. Please reach out to me directly, at any time, if I may be of assistance to you and your business.

Warm Regards,

Chris Brown
Executive Director
