Gorgeous Weather Prevails at 10th Annual WLRA Golf Tournament

The Wyoming Lodging and Restaurant Association held our 10th annual golf tournament at the Jackson Hole Golf and Tennis Club on September 13, 2019.  This years event featured beautiful fall weather and was attended by 74 golfers. Proceeds from the tournament are split between the WLRA and the WLRA Education Foundation.

Diane Shober receives Hospitality Industry Women of Influence Award!

  

The Wyoming Lodging and Restaurant Association would like to send our heartfelt congratulations to Wyoming Office of Tourism Director Diane Shober for being awarded the “Women of Influence” award in Hospitality.  Diane has been the Executive Director for the Wyoming Office of Tourism for the past 16 years.  During that time her deep love of Wyoming combined her exceptional strategic abilities and knowledge have led to incredible growth in Wyoming’s visitor economy!  The hospitality and tourism industry have benefitted tremendously from Diane’s efforts and we are so thankful and proud of this accomplishment!  Congratulations and thank you Diane!

WLRA Legend Jim Osterfoss to Retire

On September 30, 2019 WLRA Legend Jim Osterfoss will retire after more than 50 years in the Hospitality Industry.  Jim has selflessly served on the WLRA board for many years and has risen to the task no matter what the ask has been.  He has chaired the Legislative Committee, attended numerous meetings with legislators to help advance our agenda and testified in front of countless committees.  All while running the beautiful Nagle Warren Mansion in Cheyenne.  His passion for growing and protecting our industry has always gone far beyond the walls of his own business and his wisdom and dedication will be missed dearly.  Please join us in sending a hearty thank you to Jim Osterfoss!  Please click into the story to read a letter from Jim to the industry he loves so dearly.  Thank you, thank you, thank you Jim!

Final Overtime Rule To Be Published

Earlier this week the U.S. Dept. of Labor announced that it had completed its update of our nation’s federal overtime regulations.  The final regulations are scheduled to be published later this week.

Last year over 150,000 copies of the Official Wyoming Travel Guide were requested by visitors.  According to visitor statistics, 47% of those who receive a guide visit Wyoming and 86% said the guide influenced their decision to visit.  In addition, nearly half ($1.66 Billion) of the revenue generated from tourism came from food and beverage ($840M) and accommodations ($827M).
