Corporate Income Tax - Update

The Joint Revenue Committee met in Cheyenne earlier this month to continue discussions on bills seeking to diversify Wyoming’s revenue streams.  Among those bills was the National Retail “Fairness” Act- a bill that seeks to levy a 7% corporate income tax on businesses with more than 100 shareholders in just the hospitality and retail sectors.  The bills primary sponsor is Representative Jerry Obermueller of Casper.

ICE and Immigration Best Practices

You have likely seen in the news that there has been an uptick in immigration enforcement, including “raids,” and Social Security Administration “no-match” letters being sent to restaurants and lodging properties across the country. While we have not directly heard of any activity yet in Wyoming you should plan ahead and be prepared in the event that ICE contacts you or you receive a “no match” letter.

$15.00 Minimum Wage Passes House


While the WLRA does not oppose a reasonable increase to the minimum wage, the $15/hr bill that the US House of Representatives passed is way too much for Wyoming businesses to absorb. The passage of this bill would result in job losses and higher consumer prices across the state.  Fortunately the bill still has to pass the US Senate.  The WLRA has weighed in with our congressional delegation and is  monitoring this bill very closely.
