WLRA January 2018 Legislative Update

On Monday, February 12, 2018 the 64th Wyoming Legislature will convene for the 2018 budget session. The session will begin with Governor Matt Mead’s final state of the state at 10:00 am. In Wyoming the budget session runs for twenty working days and will finish on Friday, March 9, 2018. Currently 132 bills and resolutions are listed and all bills will need to pass a 2/3 vote in their house of origin in order to be considered for the session. We expect a total of between 250-330 bills for the budget session.

Jackson WLRA Members Give Back

The WLRA hosted our 8th annual golf classic at the Jackson Hole Golf and Tennis Club last September. While driving there from Cheyenne and spending the week meeting members and preparing for the tournament, I was reminded what a truly special place Jackson is. Obviously it has natural beauty, but it’s the sense of community that really makes it stand out. We were in Jackson to raise money for the WLRA and our Education Foundation, and the generosity and giving spirit was abundant everywhere we went.

AHLA, BBB Team Up To Fight Online Hotel Booking Scams

Washington, D.C. – November 27, 2017 – The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) today announced a new partnership with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) to educate and protect consumers against online hotel booking scams, which have increasingly become more prevalent and are affecting millions of consumers who book hotels online. Last year alone, 55 million bookings were made through websites travelers thought were the actual hotel’s website only to find out later they were a rogue third-party operator, resulting in nearly $4 billion in misleading bookings.

UPS and FedEx Rate Increase

With the New Year approaching, it’s time to look at the UPS and FedEx rate increases for 2018 and how they will affect your costs. In September, FedEx announced an average increase of 4.9% on Express and Ground services. UPS joined the party in October, announcing that they will also be increasing their rates by an average of 4.9%.
