The Future of Our Industry

Its hard to believe that it is mid-August already and I hope that this newsletter finds you all well and enjoying a very busy summer.  When I ran a casual dining restaurant here in Cheyenne I was fortunate to have a good base of local regular customers throughout the year.  My bread and butter time however, was from Memorial Day to Labor Day when visitors from around the world came through Cheyenne and stopped for a meal before heading out to further explore our amazing state.

GSA Releases New Federal Per Diem Rates for October 1, 2019

The General Services Administration (GSA) released federal per diem rates yesterday for FY 2019 that will go into effect October 1, 2019, which show an increase to the standard continental United States (CONUS) rate from $94 per night for lodging to a new rate of $96.

The Best Western CottonTree Inn: A GM’s Success Story

I first met Casey Shinkle, General Manager of the Best Western CottonTree Inn, Rawlins in 2017. He had just accepted the GM position there and was telling me all the positive things happening at his hotel and around Rawlins.  Having grown up in Rawlins and then moving away, it was rare indeed to hear positive news coming from my hometown, but there Casey was telling me all his plans for the hotel and the positive outlook he saw for our industry and two years later he has the CottonTree booming, with near record occupancy rates and exceptional business in their Turnbuckle Lounge.
